Still Selling Like Crazy. Shania sold 355,000 copies of Come On Over this past week. She had sold 309,000 the previous week! Shania continues to hold on to the number one spot on the Billboard Country charts, but COO has slipped to #10 on the Billboard 200 charts. If COO can hang in there at the top spot for another two weeks, it will have been #1 for 52 non-consecutive weeks! An entire year! Amazing! Read the article. (Thanks Carrie & Wing!)

Video Success! According to Billboard, Shania had the 9th best-selling music video of 1999 with Shania Live! (Thanks Carrie!)

Happy Campers! The Mercury Nashville homepage has a nice tribute to Shania in which they heap praise upon her for her numerous accomplishments this past year. How could they not be happy with her? Read the article . (Thanks Carrie!)

World Beater. Billboard has an article about Shania's success in 1999 in the UK and all around the globe. Read the article . Shania is so dominating the country charts in the UK, that she has three albums in the top ten simultaneously! Come On Over is #1, The Woman In Me is # 3 and her self-titled debut album Shania Twain is #8!  Amazing!  Read more . (Thanks Carrie & Wing!)

Windy Holiday. The Lake Geneva, Switzerland area had the worst wind storms the area has experienced in 100 years twice in the last few weeks which, unfortunately, coincided with Shania's family Christmas. Many trees and power lines were down from the storms. Hopefully, Shania's newly planted trees were saved and Christmas came off without a loss of electric power! (Thanks Paul & Brigette!)

What A Year! Canoe.com has a Year In Country Music 1999 Review in which Shania's many accomplishments are mentioned! Read the article . (Thanks Carrie!)

The Anniversary. Launch.com had a nice article on Shania and Mutt's wedding anniverary. Read the article . You can read more about how Shania and Mutt met by clicking here . (Thanks Carrie!)

No. 1 in the UK! Shania will go into the new Millenium assured that her album, Come On Over, will be the number one album in the United Kingdom according to the latest chart results! Read the charts. Congratulations Shania! (Thanks Carrie!)

Shania On The Cover. Shania graces the cover of this week's Country Music More magazine in the UK (Britain's most widely read country music magazine). The magazine also includes a huge, 8-page spread on Shania! Here's the cover: (Thanks Peter!)

New Years Eve with Shania. CBS is broadcasting an "Grammy All-Time Top Ten Performances" special on New Year's Eve (12/31) beginning at 9:00 PM EST. It's a good bet that the show will include Shania's now famous performance of "Man, I Feel Like A Woman!" from 1999 where she wore the black mini-skirt outfit seen later in the video.  Read the article. (Thanks Carrie!)

Christmas With Shania. It was noticed that many of the radio stations, and even VH-1, were including "God Bless The Child" among their holiday playlists on Christmas day. Of course, GBTC was not written to be a Christmas song, but it certainly expresses the true meaning of the holiday in that we should help those less fortunate than ourselves.  Here's hoping you had a blessed Christmas. Next year, we'll be listening to Shania's Christmas CD! (Thanks greetngs99@aol.com)

Year End Wrap-Up. Countrycool.com has a cool Year-End Review summarizing all of the incredible accomplishments of several artists this past year. Of course, leading off the list is Shania. No one had a year like the one Shania had! Read the article! (Thanks Carrie, and Merry Christmas!)

Queen of Country. Launch.com has another very cool article in which Shania is called "The Queen of Country", and rightly so this of all years. Read the article! (Thanks Carrie, and Happy New Year too!)

VCR Alert! MSNBC will be rebroadcasting a recent special that featured Shania singing Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You". I missed it the first time, but heard that she did a fantastic rendition of the tune! Definitely one to tape! It will be shown Friday, December 24, 1999 at 8 p.m. EST and again Saturday, December 25, 1999 at 4 a.m. EST. (Thanks Kenny!)

Brittania Awards. Shania came in second in the Top 5 Stars of 1999.  The Brittania Awards were announced this past week in the UK. Congratulations Shania! (Thanks Peter!)

The Truth. Shania is cancelling most, if not all, appearances for 2000. She is tired and needs a well-deserved break. She will concentrate on writing and recording new songs for what she hopes will be two new CD's by the end of 2000 (including a Christmas CD).  She is not retiring! She's just slowing down a bit.  She may show up at some award shows, including the Grammys. She may decide not to show up. That is all I know at this time.

Say It Ain't So! The Sun and dotmusic.com are both reporting that Shania has decided to take a year off.  The article goes on to say that she has already cancelled appearances at the Grammys and the Brits award shows. The Sun is not exactly a reputable source (akin to our National Enquirer) so I'm trying to confirm or unconfirm this. Read the article . (Thanks Peter, Carrie!)

More Billboard Stuff. The Year-End issue of Billboard magazine is full of Shania's accomplishments this past year including: Shania Twain won two year end #1 awards. She won for the biggest country album of the year for "Come On Over", and was named the 1999 #1 Hot AC Artist of the Year. To read more about Shania's 1999 accomplishments, click here . (Thanks Wrestle Fire!)

Steamroller. Come On Over just keeps picking up steam and rolling on over the competition! Billboard just released the sales stats for this past week and COO sold an unbelievable 309,000 copies! The week before it had sold an astounding 234,000! Next week 400,000? Shania retains the number 1 spot on the Country charts and moves up one spot to number 7 on the Billboard 200! Read the article . (Thanks Carrie, Wing!)

The survey showed that overall 35.2% of shoppers wish Bill Gates would add them to his holiday shopping list, while more females prefer Rosie O'Donnell (29.6%) and more males favor Shania Twain (14.9%). Read the article. (Thanks Carrie!)

Shania Speaks. In an interview with CDNow, Shania speaks about the new International version of Come On Over recently released in the U.S. and about her feelings about the release of Beginnings

On why she released another version, (the third) of Come On Over

Shania: [Our American fans] wanted to have what the international fans have. So that's fine. We're putting it together now so people can hear those and have those.

Shania speaks out about her feelings on Beginnings being released:

Shania: This is not the way I want people to hear my music. Obviously, I'm not happy that people can take advantage of me this way. It's discouraging to me. Sometimes I get discouraged and so disappointed in human nature. So that's my personal feeling. I feel like I've been betrayed by a fellow music person. I would never do that to somebody else.

CDNow: What do you think of the music, though?

Shania: I love the music. I think it's cool. It's the type of music that I liked to write, that I enjoyed, and that I did do a lot at the time.
There are a lot of people who think that sort of edginess in my music now came only from Mutt and only because of his entry into my world. I try to tell people I've always done all kinds of music; this is not new to me, and this is sort of obvious proof of that. Read the entire interview . (Thanks Morris!)

Shania is #1! While Charlie Gibson was busy annointing Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill as the best selling solo album by a woman of all time this morning on Good Morning America, he forgot to check the RIAA's website to see that Shania Twain's Come On Over had, indeed, tied Morrisette and also tied Garth Brooks' No Fences as the best selling country album of all time with 16 million sales Certified!  Shania will have the record all to herself very, very shortly. No offense, Charlie! Read more . (Thanks Carrie!)

Your Album of the Year. Billboard is currently holding an online poll to determine YOUR Album of the Year! Shania is currently in the lead with Come On Over! Vote for Shania ! (Thanks Carrie!)

Doh! Shania did not appear at the Second Annual Nobel Peace Concert. Some genius in the marketing department evidently supplied last years list of performers to the TV network and radion station advertising people. What a letdown! Sorry folks!

New Single Today! Shania releases a new single (a record 10th) from her Come On Over album that's become a virtual "greatest hits" package already. Shania releases "I'm Holding Onto Love (To Save My Life)" here in the U.S. today. ( Countrystars.com )

16 Million Certified! Come On Over has been certified for 16 Million sold! Shania shows no sign of slowing down! Read more . (Thanks Wing!)

She's A Number One Sheila! Shania's Come On Over has broken the record set by Savage Garden for  weeks at number 1 in Australia (19 weeks), by finishing on top for her 20th week! All this after being on the Australian charts for 109 weeks! No worries, Shania! (Thanks Kodar!)

Hot Seller! Shania's Come On Over sold an astounding 234,000+ copies this past week!  Amazing considering that the album has been on the charts for 110 weeks now and that it sold "only" 177,000 copies the previous week! Shania continues her assault on the best selling albums of all-time! The weeks sales should be enough to vault COO back into the number 1 spot on the country charts again, ahead of Garth Brooks' Christmas CD whose sales dropped off dramatically this week. Shania holds down the number 8 spot on the Billboard 200 Chart. You go girl! (Thanks Carrie, Wing!)

What RollingStone.com had to say..."Speaking of flashbacks, one year ago this week Shania Twain's Come On Over came in at No. 8, selling 210,000 copies. Last week, the same record again charted at No.8, selling 234,000 copies. An amazing display of superstar staying power. Read more . (Thanks Carrie!)

Sweet Thing. In the 3rd Annual Boxed Chocolate Holiday survey, conducted by Yankelovich Partners for the American Boxed Chocolate Manufacturers, nearly 1,000 Americans were asked which celebrity they would most like to show up on their doorstep with a box of chocolate this holiday season. TDIMM In UK. Shania's "That Don't Impress Me Much" finished fourth in the ITV voting for Song of the Year in the UK.  Shania performed the song on British TV on December 11. Artist in the Making! One of the coolest things to come out of the Friday night chat this week, is this drawing made by Jenna. Jenna is a young girl who didn't get to go to see Shania in concert, so she drew this picture from a photograph. Shania is amazing that way. Her fans are from every age group, generation, race, religion and creed.  Thanks for the beautiful picture Jenna! (Thanks Twainage!)

The Future for Shania. Shania Twain: We're working on a Christmas album. It'll make it for next Christmas. So, I'm going to have two albums coming out next year. If we can manage it, we'll get [the regular album] out before the Christmas album is released. We're writing it all now. To put two albums together, it'll take a lot of work. I'll be off the road for a while. Then I won't tour again until the new album is released, which could bethe summer of 2001. Read more . (Thanks Carrie!)

Shania Hits A Million Down Under. Shania Twain's "Come On Over" this week clocks up two achievements - it sold a million copies in Australia (only a dozen releases have achieved that) and the longest stay in the Top 10 since ARIA began compiling charts in 1983. Universal Records hoped the album would slip back to No. 1 this week, in effect having the longest stay at No 1 in the '90s. "Come On Over" is tied with Savage Garden's debut album for that honour. Read more. (Thanks Carrie!)

Shania Shut Out. Well, Shania was shut out at the Billboards tonight. The competition was fierce! I didn't see Shania in the audience. Did you? Don't sweat it, Shania. You'll get 'em at the AMA's!

Shania Is Ideal. The latest issue (December 14) of Country Weekly has an article called "What's In A Name?". It's an experts look at the names of different country stars. "The ideal name for a country star? Shania Twain comes pretty close," says Professor Cleveland Kent Evans, the Bellevue (Nebraska) University psychology teacher who has developed a national reputation as an expert on names and their origins. "Twain's a North American classic because it immediately relates to Tom Sawyer.  It sounds rural and rustic.  Shania is memorable and different, but not too different.  I think she was purely brilliant when she did that."  Tell us something we don't already know!

New URL. Shania Twain City has a new address! It's much easier to remember! Just bookmark http://shania.rackhost.net or http://shaniatwaincity.com and you'll be connected right to the City! Remember,  it's shaniatwaincity.com. Thanks!

Dallas! (Not the TV Show!) Reportedly, Shania will be taping her Dallas CBS Special, November 14, 1999 right after the Dallas Cowboys/Green Bay Packers game! This is not confirmed, but it looks like the Cowboys and Shania have worked out a deal for they're season ticket holders.  They get the game and a Shania concert immediately after! Now, that's a great deal! All to be confirmed. Stay tuned for more info! (Thanks Christy!)

Another Florida Show! According to my sources, Shania is planning another Florida show at  Bayfront Park in Miami (where she recorded "Shania Twain's Winter Break"), on January 16, 2000! That's all I have right now. No on-sale dates at this time.  I'll keep you posted. (Thanks Kenny.)

Shania Responds To Touring With George Strait Rumours. "I still haven't completely decided," she says. "If I tour next summer with him or in the spring, it really puts pressure on me, timing-wise, to get my albums finished, so I really have to think very hard. I'm not sure yet."

Meanwhile, Shania's current single, the title track to her Come On Over album, holds the No. 25 spot on Billboard's country chart. To read the full story, click here . (Thanks Carrie!)

A Note About Getting Tickets. Internet ticket buyers may have the upper hand versus the scalpers this time around.   For Shania's West Palm Beach show, tickets go onsale for Internet purchase FIRST; at 12:00 Noon. All others must wait until 12:15! This should ensure that the best seats go to the fans, not the ticket scalpers! Makes standing in line all night kind of ridiculous, but that's the point!  Hopefully, Shania will take this approach for all of her upcoming events!  Tickets are pricey, with a floor seat going for $67.50 for the West Palm Beach show...still that's nothing compared to what the scalpers were getting for them earlier this year and last. (Thanks Jody!)

DC Date. Shania is coming back to Washington, DC! My sources tell me that she'll be playing the MCI Center on November 24, 1999, Thanksgiving Eve!  No word yet on on-sale date so check back often! (Thanks! You know who you are!)

Shania's Coming to Richmond! Latest concert update! Richmond Coliseum, November 29, 1999 7:30 PM! No ticket on-sale date available at this time!

New Shania Special! CMT is set to debut a new weekly series Nov. 6 that takes an in-depth look at artists and their music videos. Described as a fast-paced 30-minute program, "Face The Music" is set to feature Brooks & Dunn relating video anecdotes in its first episode, which airs at 10:30am ET. Also planned for this season are guests including Shania Twain, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Faith Hill, Lila McCann and many others. (Thanks Carrie!)

More Concerts! Check Concert Info...more concerts and on-sale dates have been added. Just in...West Palm Beach show! December 5, 1999! Coral Sky Amphitheatre! Tickets on-sale Saturday, October 9th!   This tour is shaping up quickly! Make sure to check in often for updates...you don't want to miss Shania Live!

A Little Too Close To Home. Did anyone see "Snoops" last night on ABC? This new series by David E Kelley was about a serial killer that was obsessed with Shania Twain! The private investigators had to go undercover as a country singer "Shania" look-alike to catch him! I thought it was kind of neat that they used Shania. I guess she is the "Country Star" of today! Good thing this is just TV and Shania hopefully doesn't have any of these creepy fans. Wonder how Shania feels about these TV writers using her name and persona in their scripts? Just thought I would share with everyone. (Posted by Sherry in the US Fan Club Messageboard.) Thanks Sherry!

More Concert News. WESC 92.5 FM Greenville, SC is reporting that Shania has planned a concert for Bi-Lo Center on November 30th! The on-sale date is reportedly October 9th! Check Ticketmaster and other ticket vendors in your area. (Thanks Brian!)

More Platinum. Shania's video, "The Complete Woman In Me Collection", from her 2nd album--The Woman In Me--has now gone Platinum, which means it has sold more than 1 Million copies!  The Music video was released on November 19, 1996 & was certified Platinum on September 24, 1999! (Thanks Carrie!)

Waylon Who? No, seriously...I respect the man for his contributions to Country music over the years, but I have a serious problem. Waylon has gone and dissed Shania in the press.  (He dissed Garth Brooks, too!) To read what he had to say, click here if you're interested. (Thanks Carrie!)

Concert News. Besides the November 16th show at the National Car Rental Center in Miami, Florida, evidently a November 18th show is planned at the Philips Arena in Atlanta.  Throw in the Texas Stadium, Dallas, TX show and we've got the makings of a tour shaping up! On-sale dates as soon as I get em! Reputable sources such as Kiss 99.9 FM (Florida) and Star 94 radio have reported the concert info. We've even heard Pittsburgh mentioned? (Thanks Brian and Twainage.)

Also, Shania Twain's single "That Don't Impress Me Much" is currently # 1 on the national radio airplay chart in the Netherlands.....   Shania's single has also proved to be the summer hit in Germany.  Currently the most-played song on German radio with an unparalleled 851 plays a week, the single ranks at # 9 and her album "Come On Over" at # 15.  Both are expected to be certified gold this month.  In Austria, the single is currently at # 3, with the album at # 11, while in Switzerland the single is currently at # 12 and the album is # 8.   On Music & Media's European Top 50, the single logs in at # 8 with the album at #5. Way to go, Shania! (Thanks Carrie!)

COO #1 In UK! Shania Twain's third album for Mercury, Come On Over, has topped the charts in England after a year and a half on the chart and 1 million copies sold. In the U.S., the album has stayed on Billboard's Top 200 album chart for nearly 100 weeks. The Recording Industry Association of America recently certified the album for sales of 13 million copies. Twain was named entertainer of the year last week by the Country Music Association. (Thanks Carrie!)

Video Timeline Repeat. Just a reminder..maybe you missed it earlier. VH-1 will be re-airing Shania Twain's Video Timeline again this evening at 8:30 PM EDT (7:30 PM CDT). (Thanks for the reminder Brian.)

Time for Shania...Shania was featured in TIME magazines "Winner and Losers" section. TIME listed Shania on the "Winners" side for taking Entertainer of the Year from the CMA's. (Thanks Terry!)

International Shania. Shania has the number one songs in several countries around the globe at present. In Brazil, "You've Got A Way" has been the number one video for two weeks now.  Shania is number one Germany and The Netherlands with "That Don't Impress Me Much".   In the UK, "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" entered the charts at #3 and is selling briskly. In Canada, Come On Over took back the number 1 spot on the Country album charts that it has held for so many weeks.  Shania shows no signs of slowing down! (Thanks to Marco for the Brazilian chart info!)

ABC Airplay. If you tuned in to ABC's "Dharma & Greg" tonight, you caught the couple dancing to "You're Still The One" at the high school homecoming dance in the final scene.  Of course, ABC's Good Morning America has been using "Come On Over" regularly over the last few weeks to promote their new Broadway studio.

Shania's Secret. There's no doubt Shania Twain is a household name today. But as a young girl growing up in Timmons, Ontario, she hid her heart's goals.

"I never really shared with too many people what my dreams were," she admits. "In high school, I played a lot at the bars for mostly adults. So a lot of my friends didn't know what I did. They didn't realize how serious I was about my career.

"I kept what I did pretty much to myself. It was not something that was a social experience for me. This was something I was focusing on for after high school." (Country Weekly Online)

Tour Rumors. Q98.5, WXXQ Rockford's Hot New Country (Rockford, Illinois) reported that George Strait has asked Shania to tour with him next year. Shania is working on her new CD right now, but supposedly, if she feels she has enough new material ready by next summer, just might tour with Mr. Strait.   We'll have to wait and see how this one shakes out.  Talk about a hot ticket! (Thanks Brian!)

Shania's a Cowgirl!...Shania just completed promotional spots with the Dallas Cowboys to promote her upcoming CBS Special, which, ironically, will be taped from the Cowboys' home, Texas Stadium in Dallas. Shania's special will air on November 25, 1999--after the Cowboys' game with the Miami Dolphins! Keep an eye out for the promos!

Shania sez: "It's going to be a unique special because it's a stadium special, so obviously there'll be a lot of people there, and it'll be very, very exciting."

Turkey Day News! According to reports, Shania's Thanksgiving Day CBS special, will be recorded at Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas near Dallas in the near future.  Texas Stadium is the home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys and the site of the Thanksgiving Day football game between the Cowboys and Miami Dolphins.  Shania's special immediately follows the game on CBS.  No word yet on tickets! Stay tuned. (Thanks Carrie!)

VCR Alert! Shania reportedly will appear on Late Night with David Letterman on November 22nd and on the Rosie O'Donell Show on November 23rd.  Of course, just a few days later, she's on CBS right after the Dolphins/Cowboys game on Thanksgiving Day! (Thanks Peter!)

More Awards! Timmins, Ontario native Shania Twain was a winner at the Muchmusic Awards in Toronto. Twain won the MuchMoreMusic artist award, which recognizes the best in adult contemporary video. More than two-thousand music luminaries, media, fans and artists are stuffed into the Chum-City building from the front door to parking lot on trendy Queen Street. The event has become widely recognized as the Canadian music bash of the year. Congrats again, Shania! (Thanks Carrie!)

Shania Has Good Taste. It's rumoured that Shania went out for Krispy Kreme (my favorite) doughnuts after winning Entertainer of the Year. After that, she supposedly landed at Graham Central Station (a Nashville club) and partied with Ty Herndon and N'Sync.  Sounds like a great time to me! For more, click here . (Thanks Carrie!)

"I'm Not Just A Lap Dancer After All..." Read what else Shania had to say after picking up her award for Entertainer of the Year.  Also, some great pics and video to be found right here . (Thanks Carrie!)

Check This Out! Revlon presented a special tribute page to Shania in the BMI Awards Program. As usual, a Shania Twain North American Online Fan Club member was in attendance and we've got the pic right here. Some of the pic is cut off, but we made sure you got all of Shania! (Thank you so much for the picture, Paul.)

Shania Carrying Country. On the heals of Shania's CMA Awards as Entertainer of the Year, this article appeared at Y107 FM's website. It has some amazing facts about the impact Shania and other female acts are having on the country music industry and is worth reading.  To read it, click here . (Thanks Chris.)

Shania on ET. Shania appeared on Entertainment Tonight last evening in a taped segment from the post award show interviews. (Thanks Carrie.)

Shania Wins! Shania Wins! Shania Wins! Shania won her first CMA Award tonight! She took home the award for "Entertainer of the Year" and in doing so beat out the likes of some of Nashville's heavyweights: George Strait, Tim McGraw, et al.  Shania also was given an award for International Achievement by the CMA in recognition of her contributions in bringing country music to the attention of the entire world.  Congratulations Shania! Congratulations Shania! Congratulations Shania!

In all the excitement, I nearly forgot to mention Shania's performance of "Come On Over"! In a costume that reminded me a bit of her Grammy award outfit, Shania performed her latest single and the title track from her album. The outfit was completely pink in color, from head-to-toe and featured a cowboy hat, hot pants, floor length pink coat and cowboy boots.  Of course, her navel was exposed for the full Shania effect! Click here to see vidcaps of Shania's performance.

In a pre-Award Show Interview with Crook & Chase, Shania reiterated that she doesn't let herself take award shows too seriously.  Well, those were tears in Shania's eyes when they called her names as winner of the 1999 CMA Entertainer of the Year award! Reba McIntyre presented the award and looked very happy to see Shania beat out the boys this year.

Shania was very emotional on a night when some of her greatest inspirations: Dolly Parton and Conway Twitty were inducted into the CMA Hall of Fame.   In post-Award Show interviews, Shania was looking forward to meeting Dolly for the first time.

In one of the funnier moments of the broadcast, did you catch Vince Gill trying to get thru his presentation of the International Achievement Award to Shania? Someone, (probably a US Fan Club member) shouted out: "I Love You, Shania!" from the cheap seats.  Vince said it was difficult enough presenting the award to this beautiful woman without him interrupting his speech! The audience loved it.

All in all, it looks like Shania and Nashville have mended their fences.   Shania finally has gotten the recognition she has deserved all along from Nashville. Congratulations Shania! Now, let's celebrate!!

More Awards. Yesterday evening, Shania won the award for Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year (You're Still The One) for the second consecutive year at the BMI Awards! To read more about it, and see a picture of a gorgeously-dressed Shania, go here . Congratulations again, Shania! (Thanks Carrie!)

Canadian Double-Team. Celine Dion has a new album called "All The Way" due out on November 16th. Reportedly, Celine will sing a song written by Shania and Mutt on the album.  The word is that Shania and Mutt also sing backup vocals on the song.  Shania has indicated on many occasions that she would like to write songs that others would sing.  This looks like the first instance of that dream coming true. (Thanks Carrie!)

Man! I Feel Like A Woman! UK! Shania's single "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" was released in the UK today.   To see the front and back covers of the CD, just click on the thumbnails! (Thanks Peter!)

Shania in Elite Company in UK.   Billboard ran an article about Shania being number one on the charts in the UK:

"......Twain reaches a new height in the U.K. this week, where the international edition of "Come On Over'' finally reaches the top in its 59th chart week. Twain is not the first country artist to dominate the British list, but it's still a rare occurrence. In the land where Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash, and Don Williams had albums that peaked at No. 2, the country artists who did have No. 1 albums include Jim Reeves (''According To My Heart'' in 1969 and "40 Golden Greats'' in 1975) and Glen Campbell (''20 Golden Greats'' in 1976)." (Thanks Carrie.)

Shania Booed at CCMA's. This is hard to understand, coming from her own countrymen, but when Shania was announced as the winner of the CMT Maple Leaf Food's FAN'S CHOICE AWARD, there was a smattering of boos among the cheering at the CCMA's.  Evidently, some of the fans were expressing their displeasure that Shania did not attend.  Boo Shania? This has got to be a first. You can read what some of the angry fans had to say by clicking right here . (Thanks Carrie.)

Shania Wins 4 CCMA's! Shania Twain added to her growing pile of CCMA hardware with four wins, in fan's choice, video, female artist and vocal collaboration of the year. The Timmins, Ont., singer, who has sold more records than any other female country artist in history, now has 19 CCMAs to go alongside a rack of Junos and Grammys.

Her album, Come On Over, came out too early to be eligible but singles from the album and a video released months after its debut still qualified.

Despite being up for six awards, country music's biggest female star didn't attend the ceremony -- the first time in 10 years the multimillion-selling singer has missed the show. Twain was recovering at her Switzerland home from an exhausting two-year world tour, officials at her record company said.

Here is a complete list of what Shania won on Monday night at the CCMAs:

--Female Vocalist of the Year
--Vocal/Instrumental Collaboration of the Year (duet w/ Bryan White on From This Moment On)
--CMT Maple Leaf Food's FAN'S CHOICE AWARD
--VIDEO of the year (for The Don't Impress Me Much)

To read the REST of the article that talked about the CCMAs, click here . (Thanks Carrie!)

Come On Over Single Released. COO (the single) was heard on the radio today for the first time. Check CMT for the video!!! (Thanks Brian!)

Ouch! Well, the news isn't very good here either. Seems that People Magazine has selected Shania as a member of their "Worst Dressed List".  Shania joins perennial worst dressers Madonna, Cher and others on Mr. Blackwell's list.  I happen to think that Shania is a great dresser. Maybe they're basing their decision on her Grammy and MIFLAW outfit? Hey People! That was just an outfit for video! She doesn't wear it out to dinner with Mutt!

Good News, Bad News. Which do you want first? Good or bad? OK. Bad news first: The Dixie Chicks new CD "Fly" debuted in the number one spot on the Country charts, which means that Shania's "Come On Over" drops to number two. The good news: Next week Shania is taking over the top spot again! Write it down. (Thanks for the bad news, Carrie!) :-)

CMT Labor Day 100 Countdown Final Tally. As you already know, Shania had 10 songs in the top 100! A full 10% of the countdown! Two videos in the top five! But, do you know what songs finished where? Now you do!  Here is where her videos ranked:

#91 Honey, I'm Home;  #41 That Don't Impress Me Much;  #22 The Woman In Me;  #21 Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under;  #16 Love Gets Me Every Time;  #13 You Win My Love;  #12 If You're Not In It For Love (I'm Outta Here);   #11 Man! I Feel Like A Woman!;  #4 Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You;   #3 Any Man Of Mine. (Thanks Carrie!)

Enquirer Article Online. Well, if you want to read the nasty, filthy, totally untrue article that The National Enquirer wrote about Shania and Mutt last week, you can read it online.  Just go here and decide for yourself if there's even one shred of truth to it. (Thanks Carrie!)

Come On Over #1 in UK! In it's 58th week, COO is finally number 1 in the United Kingdom! Congratulations Shania and Mercury! To read more about it, click here . (Thanks Carrie!)

No, Canada. Shania, evidently, will not be making it to the CCMA's after all according to a Jam! Showbiz article .   Her duties in Europe will keep Shania away this year.  Earlier, we reported that there was still some hope that she might make it, but evidently not. (Thanks Carrie.)

Mutt Making Music. A song co-written by Mutt Lange and Bryan Adams and performed by Bryan White (mistakenly earlier reported as Mutt's co-writer) is moving up the country charts.  The song is called "You're Still Beautiful To Me" (Asylum/EEG).  It debuted last week at number 40 and moved up this week to number 39 on the American Country Countdown.  Congratulations Mutt!

MDA Update. Text of email from MDA in reference to Shania's appearance: "As of Sept 4, Shania Twain will appear in a pre-taped segment on the '99 Telethon on Sept 6 at Midnight to 12:59 am PDST and at 7:00 to 7:45 am PDST."  Get those tapes ready and VCR's set for record.

Shania To Entertain The Troops? She hasn't said yes, but , next to Bob Hope, she topped the list of the entertainers the U.S. troops in Kosovo said they'd like to see.  A representative of USO, said he'll be contacting Shania to see if she'll perform.  To read more, click here .

Hang In There, Canada! There is still a chance that Shania could show up at the CCMA's this year. To read more about it, click here .

Concert News.  Following is an email reply from management at National Car Rental Center in Miami: "We have just been informed that the Shania Twain Concert scheduled for November has been moved to December.  The date has not been announced, nor has the date the tickets go on sale. We will inform you as soon as we have the information. Thank You."  (Thanks Jody!)

COO goes 46...Shania's highly successful album Come On Over remains at #1on Billboard's Top Country Albums after 46 weeks. (Thanks for the info Carrie!)

13 Million Sold! Come On Over has sold it's 13 millionth copy according to Billboard .  That means that it has sold a million copies in less than a month! It also ties Whitney Houston's 1985 debut album as the NUMBER 2 best selling album by a Female Artist (OVER ALL TYPES OF MUSIC)! In case you were wondering who is number 1, it's Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill with 16 million copies sold.  The way COO is selling, it's got a fantastic chance to take over the number one spot of all time. (Thanks for the info Carrie!)

Shania To Appear. Shania will be appearing on the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.  No word yet as to whether or not she'll be performing.  The telethon is September 5 & 6. Check your local listings for channel in your area. (Credit: Multiple sources)

Billboard Review. Billboard just released a new list of reviews for songs!!!!!  Here's what
Billboard had to say about Shania's Man! I Feel Like A Woman! single:

"Man! I Feel Like A Woman!'' (Alternative Version) (3:53)< Mercury

Since the release of Shania Twain's 12-times-platinum "Come On Over'' in 1997, this track has been among the most obvious single choices among the steady stream of releases to both pop and country radio. Already a hit at her home base (It peaked at No. 4 on Hot Country Singles & Tracks in June), there's no reason that "Man!,'' with its coquettish turn of phrase, shouldn't have the same kind of appeal as her earlier "That Don't Impress Me Much.'' There are plenty of tasty ingredients here - great tempo, attitude, a hook that sells like ice cream in summer (including a guitar riff that conjures the ubiquitous "Spirit In The Sky''), and the instantly recognizable vocals of a woman who is a fond acquaintance of so many millions out there now. This is country crossover at its best. And wait until you catch this videoclip, which features Twain imitating Robert Palmer in his groundbreaking 1986 clip for "Addicted To Love,'' complete with buffed and blank-eyed male models in the background. Hilarious. This is all good. (Thanks Carrie for the info!)

Shania's MTV Europe Play. Shania has a strong showing on MTV Europe, with the #2 most requested   video (TDIMM); two of the top five requested videos on VH1 Europe: #1 (MIFLAW), #3 (TDIMM); and two of the top five videos based on airtime: #1 (TDIMM), #3 (MIFLAW). Thanks to my good friend, Peter Lowell.)

VCR Alert! VH-1 will be showing a Video Timline Special on Shania's video. The date is August 25, 1999 at 10 PM according to information we have been given.

Hallelujah! Shania has come out with her new Year 2000 calendar. It's very much similar to the calendars that are sold in stores and online but will have different pictures.  Details on how to get it as soon as available.

Shania On The Charts. Shania's album Come On Over is still # 1 on this chart after being on it for 92 weeks! If all previous reports are correct, Shania has been # 1 now for 43 weeks, which would tie one of Randy Travis' albums for being the longest # 1 Country album on the country charts!

Hot Country Singles and Tracks:

Shania's single "You've Got A Way" has dropped 1 spot to # 14 on this chart after being on the chart for 10 weeks! (The song's peak position on the chart was at # 13!)

Billboard 200:

Shania's album, Come On Over, has dropped 1 spot to # 14 this week after being on the chart for 92 weeks! The CD's peak position on this chart was at # 2!

Shania's 2nd album, The Woman In Me, is still at # 20 (the same as last week!)! This CD has now been on this chart for an amazing 232 weeks! (The CD's peak position on this chart was at # 1!)

Adult Top 40:

Shania's single "That Don't Impress Me Much" has fallen 4 spots to # 18 after being on this chart for 21 weeks! (It's peak position on this chart was at # 6!) My thanks to Carrie for this info!

Star Story. I'm not happy about The Star publishing Shania and Mutt's wedding photos, as most of you know by now.   However, I was amazed at what a positive article they wrote about she and Mutt's wedding day at their site.  To read it, click here .

FANATIC!...MTV will be reairing Shania's appearance on their show Fanatic from last November. It will play on August 19th at 3PM EST. Thanks Rich Ellenson and Terry Lee.

Amazing Staying Power! Shania's latest hit album, Come On Over, is still a hit in Canada! It's still # 1 on the Canadian country album chart after 91 weeks on that chart! After 148 weeks on the chart, Shania's second album, The Woman In Me, still sits at # 8 on the charts, which is unchanged from last week! Also, after 148 weeks on the chart, Shania's first album, Shania Twain, sits at # 23, which is down 2 spots from where it was last week at # 21! To see the full chart results, click here . Concert info...Shania has a concert planned in Florida on November 16th at The National Car Rental Center in Sunrise, FL. More info as soon as it's available. Thanks to Steve who posted it at the Fan Club Messageboard and KISS Country 99.9FM!

Not So Good For Shania. Well, I don't know about you, but I was pretty upset at the outcome of MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch between our girl Shania and Lauryn Hill.  I mean, it was unthinkable. Poor Shania being done in by....by a milking machine? Believe it or not. (Good thing it's only claymation!)

Still The One. After 91 weeks on the Billboard's Country charts, Come On Over is still #1!   Go Shania!

Shania On ET. Entertainment Tonight went behind the scenes of Shania's new video for Man! I Feel Like A Woman! for her upcoming new Revlon commercials!  There are at least two versions of Revlon commercials featuring Shania!  The first commercial, which can be seen on almost every station now, just has her single Man! I Feel Like A Woman! in the background!  The other one features Shania (in the flesh) in that daring, dominatrix outfit that she wore for both her performance of her single on the Grammys & for her video for the same single! In the Revlon add, she will apparently take off a man's shirt (like in her original video) & be wearing the top hat she wore in the original video as well!  She's wearing that outfit & will be lipsyncing to Man! I Feel Like A Woman!  This second commercial isn't out yet. (Thanks Carrie!)

Vote For Shania! You can let your voice be heard in the CCMA's Fan Choice Awards! Shania has been   nominated for the award and you can call 1-900-870-2262 to register your vote! (Thanks Seb!)

Nothing Better To Do? Star Magazine is currently holding a very strange weekly online poll! The poll goes with the article that was in Star magazine about 2 weeks ago! The article talked about Shania & Mutt's so-called "strange" relationship!  The article was the one that came w/ the "rare" photo of Shania & Mutt together at an airport--or someplace like that! The poll that goes w/ the article is called "So what do you think? Should Shania be singing the blues about her odd marriage?"! To vote either 'Yes' or  'No' to that poll, go here: http://www.starmagazine.com/vote/vote.html    (Thanks Carrie!)

Cat Fight! If you truly consider yourself a Shania fanatic, you absolutely have to tune in to MTV tonight at 10:00 PM EST.   Shania will be featured in the "Celebrity Deathmatch" versus Lauren Hill. Tune in to see how Shania holds up.  (My money is on Shania!) (Thanks Brian!)

Shania’s third Mercury album "Come On Over" has been RIAA certified 12 times platinum, just 60 days after its June 2 certification for 11 million. Shania's 1995 release, "The Woman In Me", was certified 11 times platinum in December 1998. "Come On Over" has been on the Billboard 200 charts for over 90 weeks.  (source: MBD)

Could This Be True? Shania is reportedly considering doing some concerts this fall!!!! Why? Possibly in conjunction with the fact that she will not be recording a Christmas CD now...this frees her up to do other things. Keep 'em crossed and check back here for more!  I heard from Shania's management this morning and nothing has been confirmed as of today.

Hate her? Then join up!...The best way to get hired for Shania's security crew is to hate her music. "You don't want a security person watching the show," Shania tells Country Weekly. "If they're too busy watching the show, they can't do their job." CountryNow.com

Shania Stuff.  Come On Over is the # 1 album in Australia this week.  Also, her single "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" has been certified as having gone Platinum in Australia, which means it has sold over 70,000 copies!
The chart for Canada's top Country albums has been updated!  Come On Over is still #1! The Woman In Me is holding steady at # 8! Shania's self-titled album, Shania Twain, has moved up 3 spots from last week--the album is now at # 21! To look at the chart, click here .

Shania in Country Weekly.   There is a great spread on the homecoming party that was Timmins for Shania's concert there in this week's "Country Weekly".  Again, wouldn't have been my choice for the cover, but George is a pretty nice guy I hear.  To see some of the pics, click here.

Shania In "Biography".   Shania has a nice write-up in the latest issue of "Biography" Magazine.   Wouldn't have been my personal choice for the cover shot, but what can you do? To see the spread, articles, pics and all...click here.

FHM Article. To read what Shania had to say in her interview with FHM....just click right here.
The good with the bad...First, the unfortunate news, it's reported Shania will NOT be able to complete her much anticipated Christmas album for the holiday season. It's gonna have to wait to Christmas 2000. Bummer. On the other hand, Shania's album, Come On Over, is the second best selling country album in history right behind country hunk, Garth Brooks. Congratulations Shania! (Thanks Carrie!)

Yeow! Is All I Can Say! Shania is the cover girl for the September issue of FHM magazine.  Inside is a photo layout of some 8 shots or so.  (Whew! Is it getting hot in here?) Anyway, this is some hot stuff! To see the spread, click here.  FHM owes Shania an apology for the unnecessarily crude headline under  her name on the cover in my opinion.  I mean, Shania agrees to do another shoot with them, and they call her "raunchy"?   Gimme a break.

Fingers Are Crossed. Sherrie Austin, Brad Paisley and the legendary Brenda Lee will announce the finalists for the 33rd Annual CMA Awards at an Aug. 3 press conference to be held in front of the Grand Ole Opry House. CBS will air the show live Sept. 22. Shania should be up for nominations in a few categories.  Keep 'em crossed for Shania!  Entertainment Wire/Excite.

12 Million Sold! "Come On Over" has been certified Platinum with 12 million now sold! Unbelievable! Shania's current release is showing no sign of slowing down.  Click here for more. Shania's "Shania Twain Live video" has also gone Platinum with certified sales of 1 million.

Shania & Revlon! As reported earlier, Revlon has signed Shania to plug their Revlon ColorStay Liquid Lip line of products.  To read more about it and see a pic...click here. (Thanks again, Carrie!)

Prime Time Shania! CBS announced Sunday plans for a new concert special featuring Shania Twain, who headlined a successful hour for CBS last season with her "Shania Twain's Winter Break" special.  Details of Twain's latest special for CBS are still being hammered out, though CBS executives hope to tape the hour in early fall. The pop-country crooner's current release, "Come on Over,'' has sold more than 11 million copies on the strength of singles such as "You're Still the One'' and "That Don't Impress Me Much.'' (Thanks Carrie!)

Invisible Man. Parade Publications (a U.S. Sunday Newspaper insert) included a letter from a fan in their "Personality Parade" section this week, inquiring about why you never see Shania and Mutt together.  Mutt, as we all know by now, is a very quiet and private man who prefers to stay in the background.  According to the article, they couldn't even run a picture of him because Mutt has bought up all the rights to any existing photos!   They ran a pic of Shania instead (who is much better looking anyway) accepting her Billboard Music Awards...sans Mutt.

Raising Her Right! Faith and Tim McGraw's own daughter, Gracie, relates to another country superstar's music – Shania Twain. "The song that Gracie knows and sings all the time is 'Man! I Feel Like a Woman!' "confides Faith. "Tim said he was going to have to have a conversation with Shania to tell her, 'Do you know our 2-year-old is going around singing, "Man, I feel like a woman" ?'  (Country Weekly)

Speaking of Shania, the mega-selling country star admits her song "Honey, I'm Home" is the "attitude sequel" of "Any Man of Mine."  " 'Honey, I'm Home' is a complete role-reversal song," explains the Timmins, Ontario, songbird. "When a guy comes home, after a hard day, it's not uncommon for him to say, 'Where's dinner?' In this case, it's funny because it's a girl who's singing it." Shania says her husband, Mutt Lange, often heeds the message without prompting."Yeah! He's pretty good," she admits, laughing. "He does that a lot. I'm pretty much a homemaking person and I like to take care of him. I'm kind of mothering that way. "But he'll do the same for me, without asking. If I'm on the phone for a long time, he'll bring me tea, and if I'm busy, he'll make lunch."  (Country Weekly)

God Bless The Net. At No. 18, Shania Twain's Come on Over is the best-selling country CD on Billboard's newly expanded Top Internet Album Sales chart. Lyle Lovett's Live in Texas, which ranks 115th on the Billboard 200, snares the more impressive No. 20 spot on the Net sales chart. Billboard Online

The Gossip Mags Love Shania. Shania is on the cover of Star Magazine again this week. Oh joy. The did manage to get a picture of Shania and Mutt together. (Something you don't see very often...Mutt is a very private person and prefers to stay out of the spotlight.)

Shania's Birthday!!!! The Shania Twain U.S. Online Fan Club is putting together your Birthday cards and postcards and presenting them to Shania just in time for her birthday!!! We are very excited about this opportunity to express our appreciation to Shania for everything she has meant to us as fans. If you would like to participate, just drop a Birthday card or postcard with your wishes in the mail to: The Shania Twain U.S. Online Fan Club, P.O. Box 1964, Temple City, CA 91780. We will forward them to Shania for you.

It's Not True! Don't lose any sleep over the gossip reported in the paper mentioned below. Shania is not quitting anything.   Yes, she is finished with her tour.  Yes, she is going to do studio work on her Christmas CD and her next CD. As for touring, no decision has been made to NOT tour in the future. Shania is going to enjoy some much needed R&R and time with Mutt, but don't expect her to sit still for too long!

Here We Go Again. Shania finds herself on the cover of this week's National Examiner.  A weekly newspaper (if you can call it that) along the same lines as the National Enquirer, etc.  Well, seems they've all caught on.  Anything with Shania's picture on it is gonna sell lots of copies.

Number One. Correction. I incorrectly reported that TDIMM was No. 1 on VH-1. TDIMM spent three weeks at #2, last week fell to #3, and this week, down to #9. Well, she's always number one with me! Sorry for the mistake.

Sincerest Form of Flattery. Shania Twain's recent tour didn't decrease demand for Shania impersonator Donna Huber, who bills herself as Shania Twin. "We're busier than ever now," Donna says. "It . . .keeps on getting busier whether she tours or not." Click here for more.

We've Been Good! Shania will begin recording her Christmas album at the end of August/beginning of September. The Christmas album or CD is scheduled to be released in December. Reportedly, her next album will come out in North America around summer of 2000 and the next tour will start in summer of 2001. Can't wait! (Thanks Carrie.)

Shania On The Silver Screen? Evidently, Shania will head back to the states in September to look at possible movie projects... She may star in a movie with Harrison Ford. (Not confirmed yet)... She is interested in this project but says that her music is her main concern and top priority right now! Among other projects is the possibility of a few concert dates in Las Vegas where country music stars are seldom invited. (Thanks Carrie.)

Six Down, 10 To Go. Six of the 16 songs on Shania Twain's "Come on Over" have reached the Top 40 of Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart. Shania is one of only eight artists to place that many singles from one album on the chart. ( The Hollywood Report/Entertainment Tonight Online )

Shania Rocks London! Tour comes to an end. Click here for a concert review..

Shania Packs Em In! Only the Rolling Stones and George Strait sold more concert tickets than Shania in the first half of 1999.  The Stones top the list at $87.4 million.  George Strait's multi-artist tour of only 17 dates is second with $32.5 million and Shania is third, grossing $27 million with 46 shows.  Way to go, Shania!

Then Again...Shania Twain was country music's top ticket seller, and the George Strait Country Music Festival grossed $32 million in just 17 dates, during the first half of 1999. Country music's gross concert revenues exceeded those of the first half of 1998.  This according to Billboard and reported by Entertainment Tonight.  Guess it all depends on who you want to believe!

And a book... There is a BRAND NEW Shania Twain book out called "SHANIA TWAIN: AN INTIMATE PORTRAIT OF A COUNTRY MUSIC DIVA". It's well worth the $12.00. The book has some GREAT, NEW PHOTOS! They are in black & white, but well worth the look! (Thanks Carrie.)

Billboard's Review of "You've Got A Way" With three top 10 pop singles to her credit, Shania Twain works her 11million-selling album "Come On Over" with a fourth top 40 offering, again gently remixed to perfection (for the soundtrack to Julia Roberts' "Notting Hill") and poised to take her another step forward in her domination of the crossover airwaves. Instrumentally, "You've Got A Way" resembles "From This Moment On," while the melody and sentiment will remind listeners of her pop breakthrough "You're Still The One." While this new one is not as entirely captivating as either of those songs, a couple of spins will bring out the enticing hook, wedding-ready lyric, and recognizable vocals of People cover model Twain, who sounds relaxed and ever-appealing as the song flows like a gentle stream. Her success with top 40 audiences is truly a benchmark for other country artists hearing the crossover call, and this sounds like a can't-miss proposition for an artist who has yet to make a misstep in her global career.

VP Tipper Gore, wife of current Vice President Al Gore, says that "Rock This Country" by Shania (on her CD Come On Over) is a favorite of hers!!!!!!! Vice President Al Gore used Shania Twain's "Rock This Country" to help launch his presidential campaign last week in Carthage, Tenn.  Al hasn't said if he'll use "If You Want to Touch Her, Ask" when appearing with the president. Twain, who's currently on a world tour that has sold over one million tickets, says she keeps in shape simply by dancing like crazy onstage during her concert tours. Back home, she says, her exercise is pretty much limited to horseback riding and cleaning out the stable. The magazine hits newsstands on May 11. (story )

Hollywood Bowl Tonight! Shania plays the Hollywood Bowl tonight. The LA Times has a great story on Shania today at the following link . You'll learn that Shania just bought her first expensive car, having been talked into the purchase and passing up a used vehicle by husband Mutt. Shania is as down-to-earth as she ever was. Have a great time at the show tonight everybody!

ACM Update. Though Shania didn't take home any ACM Awards last night, Dick Clark presented her with the Double Diamond Award for her record breaking sales for "The Woman In Me" and "Come On Over". One of the best lines uttered last evening came from the lips of Jay Leno as he was presenting Garth Brooks with the Artist of the Decade award. Jay paused awkwardly after a short film of Garth in concert and said, "Oh, I'm sorry, I was staring at Shania!". To which Garth mouthed back something to the effect that he "understood completely".

More ACM News. Onstage Shania said, after accepting the first ever Double Diamond Award: "I just want to say I've been alone in the world with my guitar and my songs for many years and thanks to the fans, that my music is now around the world," an obviously excited and flustered Twain told the audience. Backstage with Dick Clark, Shania took the opportunity to give a special thanks to her American fans because the Double Diamond Award is based strictly on records sold in the U.S.A.

Hard to Believe! Shania is quoted as saying, "I was never really a part of any crowd in high school," she recalls. "I was at band practice and working at nights and I didn't really get into social life at school. No one noticed me."  The full interview appears in the June issue of GLAMOUR magazine which hits newsstands on May 11.

Tonight is the Night! Are you ready Sacramento? Shania resumes her concert tour tonight in Sacramento, CA! She'll be in Hollywood, CA on Thurdsay evening (5/6). Have a great time everybody!

TDIMM 6th on The Box (UK) "That Don't Impress Me Much" is the 6th most requested video on the UK music channel "The Box". This is excellent especially considering that the TDIMM single has not even been released in the shops yet. (shania.org)

Shania in Playboy? The April 27th edition of the Toronto Sun has reported that Shania has been offered a record $1,000,000.00 dollars to pose in the magazine.  Shania is reportedly considering it, but worries that posing in the magazine would alienate her country fans.  Having been offered a few acting parts already, it is thought that the magazine could help launch her acting career.  Hmmmm. Well, we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Record Breaker! Shania & "Come On Over" have now set the all time record for a female country artist with the number 1 recording for 30 weeks.  "COO" is in it's 77th week on the chart, 39 of which have been in the top 10. ( Billboard )  Shania also has the number one single this week in New Zealand with "That Don't Impress Me Much".  Congratulations Shania!
