Australian Weirdo Sues Shania! The Entertainment website has an article on an Australian man who has sued Shania, pretending that HE was Robert John Lange, co-author of most of Shania's songs, and that Shania is actually Australian! There are really lots of weirdos around! LOL "Man, I feel like an Aussie ...09 MAY 2001 By entertainment editor ANDREW BANKS, News Interactive. IF you believe one Adelaide man, country rock legend Shania Twain was actually born in Australia. ABC online reports that Robert Geoffrey Brown, 53, of Adelaide's Henley Beach has slapped a copyright claim on Twain in the Federal Court. Brown claims he co-wrote a number of Twain's hits – including the title track for the album 'Come On Over' – while under the pseudonym of Robert John Mutt Lange – the real name of Twain's husband. He claims he worked with Eileen Regina Edward (Twain's former name) in Sydney in 1983 when he worked as a shearer and songwriter. He also claims Twain was born in Melbourne. You Miss It. The Boston Globe has posted an article on the "virtues" of traditional country music vs. the pop versions of today's country songs. The author tries to come upwith a good slogan to foster country music back into the main stream of music buyers. The statements made against current country stars are pretty harsh, including the ones against Shania's songs: "Country music has been overrun by such pabulum-pushing singers as Faith Hill, Shania Twain, and Tim McGraw, who despite that big ol' cowboy hat is about as country as Air Supply. They may be VH1 darlings (can the cable network let a week pass without airing Hill's ''Behind the Music'' episode for the umpteenth time?), but their music is carefully crafted for maximum crossover pop appeal, completely devoid of the grit, heart, and tension found in the best country music." The centres opening ceremony, to be held June 30 at 11 a.m., will be outdoors and open to the public. Outdoor activities will also be open to the public. Tickets for the centre will be $10 each. They will be sold on a time basis in order to avoid lineups for the opening weekend June 30 to July 2. Shania Pirated. According to an article at yahoo.com, many international artists are currently pirated in the Eastern European and Chinese records markets, as you have probably seen judging by the number of bottlegs sold on Ebay. While authorities are trying their best to prevent this from happening, it seems pirated copies of CDs sell on the shelves together with original ones. Shania is not exception: "Right now Universal licenses Dakhovskyy to distribute only cassettes, which can't be copied en masse like digital CDs can. As an experiment, Dakhovskyy released a CD of Woman, the compilation featuring Shania Twain, Melanie C and Cher. Dakhovskyy priced the CD to compete with the pirates at 12 hryvnia (about $2). Within days there were several pirate copies of Woman on the street available for 11 hryvnia, some shelved next to the legitimate version in stores." Click HERE to read the full article! According to an article posted at yahoo.com, SheDaisy are currently working on their second album, and the three sisters are very aware of what has changed country music and who has made it more successful: "Though Kelsi's been working with sisters Kassidy and Kristyn for 12 years in Nashville (they were raised in Utah), the sisters agree that the sound and image of country's capitol has changed quite a bit over the years, with the success of acts like Shania Twain and Faith Hill." Tickets went on sale over the weekend in Timmins for the Timmins Country Music Fanfest. Fans started lining up at 4:30 AM, although sales did not start until 10 AM, and the tickets were all general admission: 3000 tickets were purchased! The tickets were on sale in Timmins before they were available to the general public.With this sort of interest, can you just imagine what the demand will be in Timmins for the opening of the Shania Twain Centre? Shania says there was a period of time when her family was so poor she and her siblings went to school without lunch, experiencing real hunger and humiliation, something she'll never forget. Shania says that is why she wrote "God Bless the Child" and supports programs to feed children. "It's something I personally wanted to do. Hungry children. Because there's a lot of kids in North America that, like myself, don't go to school with a lunch and they come home and there's no dinner ready.
