It happened years ago when TOBY KEITH and SHANIA TWAIN were touring together. Shania became fascinated with Toby's chewing tobacco. She convinced him to let her try some just as her manager appeared. The Timmins Daily Press website has posted an article on the latest news regarding the Centre tickets for the opening weekend and what the Centre will be for the city of Timmins. The emphasis, as presented by the Centre Director Will Saari, and the Mayor of Timmins Jamie Lim, is on introducing the fans to the community and the people of Timmins, the culture and the values of a city Shania well represents: "Canada's newest and most promising international attraction will soon be open and the world will be coming to Timmins, she added. On June 30, many of Shania's fans from throughout the world will descend on Timmins to get a taste of why Shania is so proud of her home town. Lim said the new centre will provide some insight into our community, our roots and our cultural diversity. The music-related exhibits and interactive displays will allow visitors to experience how music is recorded. Shania Centre Attracts Politicians As Well! According to an article posted at the Timmins Daily Press website, the Shania Centre has dazzled a Cabinet Minister! Here are the details: " The minister of Northern Development and Mines Dan Newman put on his tourist cap, and a hard hat too, while visiting Timmins Thursday. Newman toured the Shania Twain Centre, which is still under construction, before heading to a Progressive Conservative fund-raising dinner. The centre was Newman's first stop after getting off the airplane. He liked what he saw. I'm absolutely impressed, he said. It's fabulous. The people of Timmins and area should be very proud. Newman liked some parts of the centre more than others. I like the interpretive component, he said. I know my children would look forward to something like that." POP Awards have been announced. (The awards only go to the Songwriters...Not
the artists!!) As you probably know, Shania does NOT qualify for ASCAP awards
because she's registered as a BMI Songwriter/artist!! MUTT, on the other
hand, IS a registered ASCAP Songwriter & he Does qualify for ASCAP awards!
Despite Shania being out of the spotlight all year, 2 of her songs got significant
enough airplay to warrant Awards for being on the Most Performed list for
the Most Performed Songs of the Year! The songs that made the list are:
Shania and Bulgaria. There is an online article that talks
about a Bulgarian exchange student who was sent to Tennessee and said that

Shania Fans Buying Tickets to Shania Centre! According to an article posted on the Timmins Daily Press website, Shania Fans have picked up the phones and made their reservations for their tour tickets to the Shania Twain Centre the weekend of the opening. "Phone rings off the hook for Shania tickets. There were no line-ups Tuesday, but the phone was ringing off the hook for tickets to the opening weekend of the Shania Twain Centre in Timmins. About 100 people bought 350 tickets to the centre, dedicated to the Timmins-born country superstar, which is set to open its doors June 30. The City of Timmins tourism and attractions manager said ticket orders were brisk, especially over the phone on the first day of sales. The calls have been coming in non-stop, Will Saari said, adding Timmins hotels have also sold a number of room and tickets packages. Saari said he had not anticipated a major rush for tickets since it had been well advertised the 3,750 tickets available would be on sale for two weeks." SHeDAISY is currently working on re-mixes of the songs on their debut album THE WHOLE SHeBANG. Each song will be done in somewhat different styles. The vocals will remain the same, but the tracks will be re-mixed to be more acoustic in some cases, or styles ranging from pop to practically bluegrass in flavor. The reason for doing so stems from the fact that their new album won't appear until April of next year. So, the idea is to extend the life of the debut album that has been on the market for over 100 weeks. They want to reach out to their core fans and the segment of record buyers who collect remix versions. Since the sequence and vocals remain the same, the sales of the remix version will count in the total sales of THE WHOLE SHeBANG, just as Shania's pop remix version of COME ON OVER added to that mega album's total.
