VH1 New Show on Shania-COOL! As announced last week, the US music channel VH1 will be airing a new show titled "Driven"  with a special episode on Shania on Jan. 15! The information posted at the VH1 website confirms that the show will be giving Shania fans new never seen before footage of Shania from the past, in addition to interview with people who have worked or been close to her! The show site has also posted some new photos of Shania (two of which you can see here), with much more information to read! Country Music Magazine on Shania! In the last issue of "Country Music Magazine," there is a letter addressed to Shania written by James Hunter. The open letter is a call for new Shania music, it is indeed a great article to read, praising Shania and her wonderful impact on country music! Toby on Shania! Toby Keith had to answer a question on cross over country music in one interview at country.com. Here is what Toby thinks of the whole issue: "I think crossover's great. I know one thing that's true, these people that criticize -- you need to go look at their record sales right this minute. Anybody that wants to criticize, better have record sales to back it up because Shania and those people that are getting the crossover stuff are getting record sales to back it up. It takes that kind of superstar power to make this industry sell records and be able to compete. If not, we're all gonna just become a niche in the industry, like bluegrass. New VH1 Show on Shania? The music channel VH1 has a new show titled "Driven" which is supposed to feature Shania. Shania - Top Selling Artist! According to an article published at yahoo.com, Shania is the Top Selling Artist in Soundscan History! In a NEW, Year-end article on the Music Industry events that occured in 2001, the news is that "Founded in 1991, SoundScan is the entertainment industry's main information system for point-of-purchase sales data. 2001 also marks the year Shania Twain became the top-selling artist of the SoundScan era, dethroning Alanis Morissette. The top 10-selling albums in SoundScan's history are Twain's "Come on Over" (14 million)..." Shania Going to Timmins? According to an article posted today on the Timmins Daily Press website, the mayor of Timmins has hinted that Shania may be visiting her hometown next summer! "Mayor hints Shania visit in the works. 
Timmins may get a visit from its hometown singing sweetheart, Shania Twain, as early as next summer. Mayor Jamie Lim hinted at the visit during the year-end speech she delivered at Monday night's regular council meeting. "We are already planning for next year's summer FanFest and just maybe a visit from our brightest international ambassador, Shania Twain," Lim said. Twain has been out of the limelight this year during her pregnancy and after the birth of her first child in August. Even the opening of the Shania Twain Centre in Timmins this summer failed to draw the country singer into the public. The mayor touched on a number of other issues which impacted Timmins in 2001 during her annual speech." That would be great news for the Shania Centre and for all the fans, however a statement given to the STNAOFC by Mr. Will Saari, the Centre director, confirms that at the moment there is no certainty that Shania will be in Timmins next summer: "Yes, we are working (and hoping) for a visit by Shania in 2002, but nothing confirmed yet. Shania Centre Lights UP! The Shania Twain Centre in Timmins has now lit up! In the hall of the building, as you can see in the image here to the left, there are Christmas trees and special events with school choirs singing! "The Shania Twain Centre turned on 15,000 Christmas bulbs, both inside and out, in a celebration of the season Thursday evening. "It's the idea of bringing everybody together and encouraging people to come up and see the lights," said Will Saari, tourism and attractions manager for the City of Timmins. The centre was planning to light up 20,000 Christmas bulbs, but the wind storm Thursday knocked down two 15-foot Christmas trees from the top of the centre. Those trees are expected to be lit today. Once the lights were on Thursday, the Bertha Shaw Public School Choir took over the entertainment scene and held a mini concert for a part of the evening. Countrystars....A Shania fan is upset. One of the Q&A sections at Countrystars.com has a question on Shania by a fan who sounds upset. 
"Q: In a recent edition of "Country Weekly magazine that had Clint Black and his wife on the cover there was an article in the issue about Shania Twain being a new Mom and making new music. I see they included tabloid pictures taken September 1, 2001, 2 weeks after giving birth to her son August 12, 2001 by the paparazzi of Shania pushing a baby carriage and a close-up of her son, Eja! Those same pictures have been published in several tabloids magazines throughout the world (UK, Australia, US, Europe)! Is Country Weekly becoming a tabloid magazine now? Why would Country Weekly publish tabloid pictures that are almost 3 months old of Shania and her son Eja without her consent? That's what tabloids do! (Taylor)

Festivities at the Shania Centre! School choirs to perform at Shania centre! "Harmonies and melodies will be coming from the Shania Twain Centre this holiday season. But they won't be coming from the world renown songstress. Local school choirs will perform on an elevated stage in the lobby of the centre which has been decorated with thousands of Christmas lights. Countrystars on Shania's Next Album. The music website countrystars.com has posted information on how things are going at Mercury in regards to Shania's new album. The truth is that there is nothing new at the moment and that Mercury is waiting along with the many Shania fans for the album to be released sometimes next year. "NEW SHANIA TWAIN ALBUM IN 2002. All the ducks seem to be in a row for a new Shania Twain album in 2002. Mercury records wants it and is planning to promote one. Most important, Shania wants one and is planning to deliver it. The big question is when? That's totally up to Shania and Mutt Lange and, at this point, they have not given the label a definite delivery date. Mercury points out they won't attempt to pressure Twain either. They remember that they waited 6 months longer than planned for the delivery of COME ON OVER and aren't about to complain about how that turned out, with 18 million copies sold and counting. To date Shania Twain has sold 31 million albums domestically (1 million of SHANIA TWAIN, 12 million of THE WOMAN IN ME and 18 million of COME ON OVER). Worldwide, Twain's total swells to over 50 million albums. The new album originally was tentatively slated to be delivered this past August. Instead, she delivered a new baby. Her plan this year was to support the new album with a new tour. It might be safe to assume that will happen next year, but the label warns it's not safe to assume anything at this point." New Shania Dress Auction! The VH1 website has now started a series of auctions for the VH1 Save the Music charity. Bidding starts on Dec. 2 and will conclude on December 17. "All proceeds from the auction will benefit the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education in America's public schools by restoring and supporting music programs across the U.S. Items offered for bidding on the VH1 Save The Music Holiday will include several pieces of rock's newest collectibles, direct from "My VH1 Music Awards '01." Shania Gown Auction-GONE! The final winning bid for the Shania Gown was $1,505 and the winner is Terry of EverythingShania ! Congratulations Terry! The website BridesMade had organized a very special series of auctions: the Glory Auctions. They  were auctioning dresses and gowns from celebrities to benefit the American Liberty Partnership Charity of their choice. Among the many who have donated, there is a Shania gown (here to the left)! The charity chosen to benefit from this auction is the September 11th Fund! (A HUGE Thanks to Cbspock!) 
 

STNAOFC Check Ceremony at Shania Twain Centre! On Thursday November 22, at 10.30 am at the Shania Twain Centre, the Timmins Hospital held a special Check Presentation ceremony to thank the Shania Twain North American Online Fan Club for the Baby Lange Donation in the amount of CAN $1,100 this past September. Two Timmins members of the Fan Club represented all the Shania Fans who have contributed to this fundraiser to help the Paediatric Department of the Timmins Hospital. In the photo here below, you can see Mr. Will Saari (first one on the left) and Ms. Faye Naveau with her daughter (on the left) representing the Fan Club at the Check Ceremony with Mr. Robert Perrault, Timmins Hospital Foundation Chairperson.
