"The musical instrument area: the only thing that remains is the wall piano, since it is built right in, and the kids especially seem to enjoy it. The large pipe organ is now out in the front foyer. The Foyer: they have three new costume cases as "teaser" exhibits, as well as the organ as mentioned and a video kiosk that highlights the video shot during Shania's homecoming in 1996 and the outfit she wore then. We are also working on an "electronic" guest book to replace the paper version. It will sit on a large design table that Shania autographed. This kiosk will also eventually allow people to send an "electronic postcard" to a home or friends e-mail address and will consist of an e-mail message with a graphic attachment of the building with "Greetings from the Shania Twain Centre" printed on it. People could then print it, save it as a desktop background, or whatever. The Hall of Inspiration:
they are carrying on the three themes of Fans, City of Timmins and "Early
Career," but with expanded exhibits including more costumes from the early
days at Deerhurst. They have converted the two guitar kiosks into personal
viewing stations that show DVD and Video
clips of varous performances, for those that just can't get enough. There
is a new costume case installed on the back wall that is identical to the
one we already had in place. There are four
costumes installed from the videos along
with some background designs and props. The original costume case is being
re-done to highlight some of the other outfits as well as some of the more
obscure stuff that the "general" sort of fan may not have seen.
The Backstage Area: it is also being re-done to a new level. The Theater Presentation: it will also be re-formatted at some point, but probabley not until the new release is out so that we can incorporate some of that material. It is very expensive to have the production redone, so we will have to see where that takes us." A HUGE Thanks to Mr. Will Saari and Karen Bach for a job well-done! PLEASE NOTE THE NEW HOURS OF
OPERATION FOR SUMMER 2002!

Timmins FanFest is Top Festival! On April 25, 2002 the official website of the Timmins Daily Press posted an article titled "Timmins, Kap in top festival category" on the Timmins FanFest being named to the list of the Top 50 Festivals in Ontario: "Both Timmins and Kapuskasing have been recognized by the Festivals and Events Ontario Conference in Windsor, as having two of the top 50 festivals in Ontario. Timmins earned its standing after for its very first FanFest held last year. Frank Roch, tourism co-ordinator for Tourism Timmins, said he believes Timmins won the honour because of the Canadian content. "We concentrated our efforts on being a 100 per cent Canadian show," he said. "I think that struck a cord with people who made the decision. "We put together the largest all-Canadian show in the province of Ontario last year."" Click HERE to read the full article! (Thanks Bryce, from the STNAOFC Messageboard !)

Thanks! Shania's Early Refusal To Tour. The country music website countrystars.com has posted a short article on Shania's early refusal to tour after her debut album and the "Woman in Me" success as well. "SHANIA'S EARLY REFUSAL TO TOUR CALCULATED RISK. Back in 1993 after Toby Keith and Shania Twain participated in their label sponsored Triple Play tour (along with John Brannen), Toby told us he was surprised when Shania told him she didn't plan to tour to support her new album. "I was getting ready to tour like I had for years to make some money, so I was surprised that she said she wouldn't be touring," Toby recalls. According to Shania she saw radio, TV and print to be better early options, "This sort of thing, I mean the promotional side of what we do and the publicity side of what we do, it's played a huge role I think in the in my success because there are a lot of people you can't reach through a concert tour unless you're already famous. This is what I believe and this is why I didn't tour right away, Twain told us. "Because until you're famous you really don't get enough people at one time in one place to kind of pass the word on. You know? But when you are doing publicity and promotion whether it's print, radio or television, whatever it happens to be; you're reaching millions of people at one time." (Thanks Talkalot24, from the STNAOFC Messageboard !)

Johnson met Shania in Canada back in 1995 at a press conference to promote Twain's newly released THE WOMAN IN ME album."She seemed very sweet and we all got to meet her. And I told her I was a singer and she signed my thing for me and I still have it and it says, 'Carolyn Dawn, good luck with your singing...Love, Shania Twain.' And 3 months later I came down to CRS [Country Radio Seminar, in Nashville] saw her in the bathroom and I said, 'I just met you in Vancouver' and she remembered, and that's the last time I've seen her. But it was cool because I got to meet her before she was huge and she was very sweet." (Thanks Cbspock, from the STNAOFC Messageboard !) Funny Question on Shania. The music website countrystars.com
