Shania's New CD News Hits Timmins! The website of the Timmins Daily Press has reported the news on the announcement made by Mercury Records official website on Aug, 12 (later retracted) that Shania's new CD will be released on Nov. 12. 
"Shania's new CD promises to be a sound investment. Shania's new CD promises to be a sound investment to boost tourism figures She's still Timmins' country sweetheart. And should Shania Twain go on a concert tour to support her new album Up!, she would be welcome to perform in Timmins, said Coun. Tom Laughren. "I would think Shania would always be welcomed to perform in Timmins," Laughren said, adding no special invitation has been made recently. "If it was her wish to perform in Timmins during a possible tour, we'd love to have her stop here. We'd be crazy not to." The last time Twain performed in Timmins — a Canada Day show in 1999 — more than 20,000 fans packed Hollinger Park to hear her belt out her countless hit singles." To read the full article, go HERE ! Release Date Changed! On August 15, 2002 the official site for Shania Twain at Mercury Nashville has unfortunately deleted all references to the new album's release date and title :( It seems that the promotion plans are still been worked on and consequently Mercury Records does not feel ready to announce the album officially. Here below is what the official site has posted on their site messageboard as a reply to the fans' multiple questions: 
"Hey All, You are very right that you deserve an explanation. The breaking news posted to inform you of Shania's upcoming release was prematurely posted. Obviously our goal is not to confuse you all, the fans. We don't have an agenda to upset you all. We want to keep you informed as we find and confirm information and, in this case, we were too quick to try to inform. There is no confirmation that the album will be on or off the August 12th date. As soon as the information is confirmed, we will let you know. You all have been very loyal and patient. You all are very important to Shania and please don't blame her for any misinformation. We will keep you informed as soon as possible. Sincerely and Apologies...Mercury Nashville" 
I know this will cause a lot of pain and shock among the fans. Shania's new album is still coming out very soon..it is just a matter of hanging in there few more days for the final official confirmation! (Thanks Cbspock and Mercury Nashville, from the STNAOFC Messageboard !)

Countrystars on Shania! The country music website countrystars.com had several mentions of Shania recently. Their Question of the Day was: 
Q. What major country superstar refused to tour until they had attained success?
A. Back in 1993, Shania Twain and Toby Keith were part of the Triple Play tour set up by Mercury Records to break three new acts at the same time (the other act was John Brannen). After that tour Toby asked Shania when she was going to start touring. "She told me she didn't plan to tour," says Toby. "That was amazing to me since I had been touring for 10 years at that point and made my living that way. But, she told me she didn't plan on touring until she had become a hit act." Shania figured why should she go to all that effort and expense to tour before people knew who she was and would show up to see her. 
Neil Haslop's Update section had a short article on Shania as well: "SHANIA THE HARDEST WORKING PERSON IN SWITZERLAND. From Switzerland comes word that Shania Twain is the hardest working person in Switzerland these days as she prepares for the release of her fourth album. Those surrounding Shania right now say that she's simply hard to keep up with as she juggles and re-juggles her schedule of photo shoots, final touches on her album, promotion plans, etc. as the release date of the first single from the album approaches. "The schedule is being completely revised from one minute to the next to get it all in," is the word from the land of the Swiss and one international country singing superstar." CMT-CANADA has added more information on one of the two new CMT Shania Specials to be aired later this year: "CMT host ELISSA LANSDELL very recently traveled to Switzerland to sit down with Shania for a great conversation about what’s ‘up’ with our Canadian superstar, which you’ll get to see the results of next month." Great Vote Shania Fans! A HUGE Thank YOU to all Shania fans who have voted for Shania's new album as the most anticipated album at billboard.com : "Of the upcoming batch of releases from country music's biggest stars, Shania Twain's "Up!" is the most anticipated by fans, according to a Billboard.com poll. New CMT-Canada Shania Specials! A CMT-CANADA Press Release has just confirmed some rumors regarding two Shania Specials on CMT this coming fall. CORUS Entertainment has just announced that: "CMT has commissioned two new specials about Shania Twain in conjunction with her upcoming CD release this fall: The Case for Shania and R-E-S-P-E-C-T. The documentaries combine performances and interviews, providing an insightful look at this country superstar whose influence extends well beyond the music charts." First Articles on New Release! The country music website Countryweekly.com has promptly announced the details regarding Shania's new release: "NEXT UP -- SHANIA. It's been a long time coming, but Shania Twain has a new album coming out Nov. 12th -- her first since 1997's "Come On Over." 
The album is called "Up," and will feature 19 songs, all written collaboratively by Shania and her producer husband Mutt Lange. 
If her last album is any indication, "Up" should be a blockbuster. "Come On Over" is the best-selling album ever by a female in the United States, selling 19 million U.S. copies and 35 million worldwide." New Articles on New Single. There are two new online articles mentioning the release to radios of Shania's new album first single on Sep. 23 in the US. At the moment, there is still NO official confirmation from Shania's label Mercury Records. Yahoo's article : "Shania Twain Single Scheduled For September 
Wed Aug 7,10:57 AM ET (8/7/02, 10 a.m. ET) -- Shania Twain fans won't have to wait much longer for some new music from the superstar. Mercury Records will release the first single from her upcoming album on September 23, according to a source. 2002 STNAOFC Fundraiser: Please Help! The Shania Twain North American Online Fan Club has decided to help America's Second Harvest and the Kids Cafe with its 2002 Annual Fundraiser. The charity was chosen with 51% of the votes among four possible charities and has been supported repeatedly by Shania Twain in the past . The amount of the fundraiser will be determined by donations from Shania fans and by special auctions of Shania memorabilia organized by the Fan Club on Ebay. We will start collecting the donations and the bidding on the auctions on August 4 and we will continue until August 31. All donations will go straight to the charities. There two ways to show your support: you can (1) donate  money directly or you can (2) bid on Shania items/memorabilia (some of them very rare!).

Getting Closer... The country music website countrystars.com has posted an update on the release of Shania's first single, although at the moment there is still no official confirmation from the official Shania website at Mercury Nashville. "SHANIA'S SINGLE MOVED BACK TO LATER IN SEPT. Although nothing regarding Shania Twain's new single and album release are etched in stone until when they happen, the anticipated early September release of the first single from her 4th album is now set for release in late September. The album is still tentatively set for November release. Good sign is that Shania's various pre-release activities, such as photo shoots and press (for magazines that have long lead times), are now being scheduled." Shania Radio Special! Listen to your favorite country station on Labor Day weekend (the week of Aug. 26). The United Stations Radio Network will be featuring Shania for their Labor Day Country Giants Special 2002. They do 4 specials a year that are heard on over 100 stations. For July 4th it was the Dixie Chicks. The Labor Day Special will be called the Shania Twain Story. It will run at different times on many different stations around the country. CountryStars on Shania's Royalties! There was a quick mention of Shania in the Q&A section of Countrystars.com:
Q: Which actually generates the most personal income for a group or solo act who is at the height of their career, touring or CD sales? (Steve, Flagstaff, AZ) 
A: Steve it all depends. For a new act, even one that starts with hit records, touring makes them the most money in the first few years or so, because the record company gets none of that (unless they provided tour support early on and get reimbursed). But, for singers like Garth Brooks and the Dixie Chicks who start selling albums by the millions, the sales of records earns them more. If they've written the songs like Garth and Shania do, CDs make them even more from writing and performing royalties. 

Country Weekly on Shania! The Aug. 6th issue of the country music magazine Country Weekly has a short article on Shania's comeback: "New music from multiplatinum, international superstar Shania Twain is mere months away. The groundbreaking Canadian's record label confirms that the release of the debut single from her upcoming CD is set for Sept. 23; the singles title hasn't been announced. The album is tentatively slated to hit stores in November. No tour plans in support of the CD have been revealed." (Thanks Cbspock, from the STNAOFC Messageboard !) 

Shania Center Gets Makeover! The Shania Twain Centre in Timmins has now added new exhibits to the Centre. Among the many dresses worn by Shania the fans can see the ones used for her videos, her last public appearance at the 2000 CMA and her wedding dress! The Timmins Daily Press had this article on the new exhibits: "The Shania Twain Centre has had a make-over dedicated to matrimony. "We have an entire display devoted to (Twain's) wedding, with the actual wedding dress, some wedding photos, and all the accouterments -— like the earrings, shoes, and gloves," said Will Saari, Tourism and Events co-ordinator. Since the centre opened July1, 2001, visitors have relayed one main message — stock up on "Shania memorabilia," Saari said. And that is exactly what the centre employees did. Other developments include an exhibit highlighting the album cover of Twain's first big CD shot in Timmins." New Album: No Firm Dates! Mercury Nashville has posted a reply on the official site's messageboard clarifying the dates that had been going around on the net concerning Shania's new album release in the Fall. At the moment, there are NO FIRM DATES for the album release. This is what Mercury Records has posted for the fans: "Hey Fans, I know everyone is excited about Shania's upcoming album release and I am sure there is a lot to be excited about. There have been a multitude of dates floating around in conversations and in web postings that forecast actual release dates. Please know that those dates are not firm and cannot be confirmed. As soon as we have confirmed dates, we will let you know. Thanks for your understanding and true patience. Thanks Again...Mercury Records." Album Title "UP"? According to the Hungarian Official Site of Universal Music, the new Shania album is titled "UP" and the release date in Hungary is November 18! At the moment there is still no official confirmation from Mercury Nashville, but many music stores have the new album out in North America on November 12! First Single in September? According to a statement made by the radio station US 99 in Chicago on their official website , Shania's new album should be released in November with a single on rotation at radios starting September 23. For the moment there is NO OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION that this is true. At the least, the Sep. 23 date is only for the single to be aired on radios not to be available in stores. Carolyn on Shania. The country music website countrystars.com has posted a short article on Carolyn Dawn Johnson and how she has been helped by Shania's career: "CAROLYN DAWN JOHNSON INSPIRED, HELPED BY SHANIA'S SUCCESS. Canadian Carolyn Dawn Johnson says she was taking notes watching Shania Twain break out in Nashville. "Shania Twain is an inspiration, being a Canadian and someone who just kind of went for it," says Carolyn Dawn. "It's a little harder for a Canadian to come down here, not because there's any stigma against Canadians, it's just that we're not able to work down here right away unless you have American citizenship. Which most of us don't, so that's a big obstacle and somehow she overcame that and kind of just stuck to her guns about what she wanted to do and was able to do it." Shania in "Parade." In the June 23 issue of the Sunday magazine "Parade" there was a short article on Shania's come back. Together with the photo shown here to the right, the article responded to a question from fans: 
"Q: We're devoted fans of Shania Twain and wonder when she plans to resume making music. - J. & B. Syracuse, NY.
A: We're happy to report that fans of the Canadian songbird soon will be rewarded for their patience. The 36-year-old star is finishing her first new album since 1999 - tentatively scheduled for release this fall, along with a US tour. Twain and her record producer husband, Robert "Mutt" Lange, 52, have spent much of their time in Europe (they have a Swiss chateau) since the birth in August of their son, Eja (pronounced Asia)."

What Women Earn... An article published in the July 2002 issue of the Ladies Home Journal , on page 94, discusses women's incomes levels. Among the many women mentioned in the article, you can find Shania too (seen here to the right) with a reported income of $46 Million dollars from albums, tours and promotions! Shania at The Capitol! It seems that Shania is really mentioned everywhere these days...As you can see from the picture here to the left (provided by Super Shania Fan RedHead Bee ): "Shania Twain is shown on a high-tech flat-screen monitor during a test at the Supreme Court chambers in the state Capitol's East Wing on Monday. The Capitol is undergoing the final days of a $141 million restoration project that began in 1988." New Article on Shania's Possible Visit to Timmins. On June 11, 2002 the Timmins Daily Press website posted an article on the possibility of Shania visiting Timmins by the end of the year. The article highlighted what Mayor Mrs. Lim and the director of tourism in Timmins Jack Watson said regarding invitations made to Shania to visit the Centre: ""Hopefully arrangements can be finalized for this year but if not then, in the summer of 2003," Watson said. "If she were to come to Timmins for a weekend visit, we could expect 3,000 to 5,000 extra visitors to the centre and quite possibly more because of the fan interest in her.

This new article followed a clarification from the city of Timmins regarding the previous article published in the Timmins Times . Mr. Will Saari's comments on the date of a possible Shania visit to Timmins has been misquoted: "In the article, Tourism and Attractions Manager, Mr. Will Saari is misquoted as saying that a visit by the internatinal superstar is expected sometime in the fall of 2002. This is not the case. 
Mr. Saari's comments relate to information from Mercury Records in Nashville that a new Shania Twain release is expected sometime in the fall. The staff of the Shania Twain Centre feel that it is reasonable to expect that scheduling of any promotional events would be developed after that date, therefore it would be at least fall before a possible visit could be confirmed." Shania on Sexiest List. FHM readers have cast their votes in the World's Sexiest 100 Women poll. The results will be in the next issue, due out tomorrow but Entertainment Tonight has spilled the beans. Shania Twain comes in at #37, a very respectable showing for someone who practically hasn't been seen in YEARS! Shania whipped some current stars with plenty current publicity, such as spanish-pop star Shakira and Star Wars' Natalie Portman. Shania to Visit Centre in the Fall? According to an article published in the Timmins Times yesterday titled "SHANIA TWAIN EXPECTED TO VISIT TIMMINS THIS FALL (By MAGGIE RIOPELLE),"  Shania Twain could be visiting the Shania Twain Centre this Fall. The Director of the Centre, Mr. Will Saari was interviewed by the newspaper and commented on the possible visit: "We are still confident that she will visit the centre and make a public appearance,” he explained. “Last year with starting a new family and recording, she was unable to visit the centre. But we have been in contact with her management and we have been told that early this fall will be the release date of her record. Then she will have her promotional schedule set and we expect that she will be able to visit the centre around that time.” Of course it will all depend on timing, whether Shania will be able to stop in Timmins during the tour and if there is enough time to prepare for the event, he added." More Info on New Exhibits at Shania Centre! Theofficial website of the city of Timmins has just posted an update on the Timmins Gold Mine expansion and the new exhibits at the Shania Twain Centre: "“This year, we are already seeing our numbers increase for visitors opting for the package tour with the Shania Twain Centre and the GMT.” 
As for the Shania Twain Centre, the exhibits have been enhanced and more of Shania’s memorabilia is now on display. “We have some of her handwritten lyrics, fans really like to look at it so they can see what the original words were,” he added. “We also have some new outfits, with one exhibit case that centres around the more high end evening gowns.” 
As well, the lobby of the centre has a number of musical instruments as well as a few outfits of which fans can take photographs. “We have not allowed cameras in the exhibit area because of copyright,” he explained. “But, we have a lot of fans who want to take photographs next to the exhibits, so we have taken a few exhibits out into the lobby.” 
Also new to the exhibit is the electronic guest book in the lobby, which allows visitors to write their comments about the centre. Feedback is an ideal way to not only keep track of where the visitors are travelling from, but also what improvements can be made to the exhibits.
Visitors signing the guest book also have the option of sending an online Shania Twain Centre postcard to as many friends as they would like. The Wait is Almost Over! Shania Twain's official website at Mercury Nashville has posted an update on the possible release of Shania's new CD. Although there is still no official release date, the Mercury announcement has once again confirmed that the new album will be out later this year: "NEW MUSIC FROM SHANIA! Shania fans everywhere are anxiously awaiting the release of Shania's new album. Currently there is a lot of unconfirmed information and dates floating around, and we felt you, the loyal fans, have a right to know the facts! Shania's album is currently in the works and is tentatively scheduled for release later this Fall with a single released to radio prior to the album. No official dates have been set at this time, but we will post any official release dates here as soon as they are confirmed. Thanks so much for your patience! The wait is almost over!" CountryWeekly on "Early Shania"! The website of the country music magazine CountryWeekly has published an article on Shania's early career (they have also posted a picture, seen here to the left), when she recorded some of the tracks later released in the "Limelight Sessions" CD. "Shania Twain's first record producer recalls the humble beginnings of a superstar. Before Shania Twain skyrocketed to stardom, she was a poor, struggling, big-hair resort act whose idea of a real treat was hot tea with lemon. Those memories burn brightly with Toronto record producer Harry Hinde, who cut some of the first tracks on Shania in the late 1980s -- under her real name, Eilleen Twain.
