Shania Heads on UP! The
Toronto Sun has published a great, in detail article on Shania Twain. The
article was written after an interview Shania gave to Jane Stevenson in
Switzerland. "Country crossover superstar Shania Twain's re-entry into
the music world began last month with the release of I'm Gonna Getcha Good!,
the first single from her new album, Up!, which hits stores Nov. 19.
The song's release was
accompanied by a slick, sci-fi-themed video -- a cross between Tron and
Bladerunner -- that features Twain in a skin-tight black jumpsuit, racing
through a futuristic city on a motorcycle, and dodging a giant robot along
the way." To read the full article, go HERE!

MacLeans On Shania! The
magazine MacLeans has an article on Shania Twain's new album and her new
life as a mother. Shania has answered many questions on her new music,
her expectations and songwriting for the album.
Titled "'I'm Always Trying
To Explore" the article goes into detail on Shania's opinions on pretty
women, Switzerland and music: "SHE'S ACHIEVED first-name-only superstardom,
selling more than 50 million records on the strength of her twangy pop
tunes and unabashedly sexy image. On Nov. 19, Shania Twain releases Up!,
her first album of new material since 1997's Come On Over. The Timmins,
Ont.-born songstress, 37, who now lives in a 19th-century chateau outside
Montreux, Switzerland, with her husband and creative collaborator Robert
"Mutt" Lange and their 15-month-old-old son Eja, spoke with Jonathon Gatehouse.
Is there anything special
about the timing of this record, five years after the last one?
It's just ready now. It
probably would have been ready a year earlier had I not had the child.
But that sort of delayed things a bit. It's only been two and a half years
since I've been off the road. So in two and a half years, we wrote and
recorded an album and had a baby. In the end, it really hasn't been that
long. " To read the full article and see a new Shania photo, click HERE!

New Album is a MIX...
Yahoo.com has posted an article titled "Shania Twain's New Album Is
'A Mix Of Everything'" with Shania Twain's comments regarding her new album:
"Shania Twain was guest of honor at an exclusive party near Nashville Thursday
night (November 7) to listen to her forthcoming UP! album. The new project,
which will be in stores on November 19, is a natural progression for the
superstar, she told LAUNCH.
"There are a lot of new
things, a lot of new sounds. I think it's a mix of everything. I'm really
happy with it. I think it's the best album I've written so far and there's
a lot of music on the album, there's a lot of music for everybody and I
think it's for all the different audiences that I've sort of been lucky
enough to pick up along the way which is really great. I've had a great
chance to explore." To read the full article, go HERE!

Shania
on Magazine Covers! This week Shania is on two magazine covers. The
first magazine cover to come out was the one for the November 9 issue of
TV Guide Canada: a different photo from the previous week cover on the
TV Guide American version. See the cover here to the left thanks to Roger!
Also, Shania has a double
cover on the November 26 issue of magazine Country Weekly! The magazine
has a GREAT article on Shania titled "Swiss Miss", in which Shania talks
about her house, her family, her new album and what has changed her. Bob
Paxman writes "The international superstar has spent most of the day promoting
her brand-new, hotly anticipated album, Up!, which hits stores Nov. 19.
There's a lot to live up to: Her previous CD, Come On Over, sold 19 million
copies, setting a record for female stars.
But here in wind-down mode,
Shania's not thinking about career pressures and demands. "It just feels
good to be home," she says, letting go a relaxed breath..." To read part
of the article, go HERE!

Shania
CMAs Articles! What a great night was November 6 for Shania Twain!
She performed at the opening of the show and was a presenter for
the Male Vocalist of the Year Award. The photo here to the right is from
the presentation of the award (A HUGE Thank YOU to Wing,
the Vid-Cap Master!), when Shania wore a gold gown. An article on Canoe
reported how Shania felt regarding her performance: ""It didn't have the
scary impact that I thought it would," Twain said of her performance. She
releases a new album later this
month." Countrynation.com posted
a short article on Shania saying that she is still a Bar Singer: "Shania
Twain, looking better than ever, kicked off last night's CMA Awards show
with new single "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" -- and she pulled out all the
stops, launching a Harley-Davidson motorcycle down an aisle and up to the
stage. "I'm basically a bar singer," Twain said backstage after her performance.
"I am a bar singer who ended up on a concert stage."
CMT.com
published an article on Shania's performance and reactions: "Asked about
her first U.S. televised performance in three years, Twain said, "It didn't
have the scary impact that I thought it would, because I actually started
promotion in Europe a couple months ago, so I've been able to do quite
a bit of TV before coming here. I've sort of been back at that for a little
while, but being back here is special. It's really, really great -- just
seeing a lot of familiar faces. It's been a long time
now, I realize it. I came here quite a while ago now to get started, so
it's really great to come back and reminisce." Countrystars.com
Neil Haslop adds: "The 36th Annual Country Music Association awards began
with a stellar performance by international country superstar, Shania Twain.
Twain sang "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" with a big production backing her up.
Shania looked and sounded great. Her return to the stage for the first
time since 1999, was received by a wildly enthusiastic CMA award audience.

Shania to Meet Dolly.
According to an article posted at www.top40.com
Shania Twain should have met Dolly Parton for the first time this past
week in Nashville. "SHANIA TWAIN ASKED MOST ABOUT MOTHERHOOD. Backstage
after the CMA awards, the press wanted most to know from SHANIA TWAIN how
becoming a mother has affected her music. She said it hasn't made a direct
difference in her songwriting, but, quote, "I just think it's made me a
deeper, more emotional person." She says there isn't a mother-related song
on her new album, "UP!," set for release on the 19th. Meanwhile, Shania
has never met her idol, DOLLY PARTON. Wednesday, before the CMA awards,
Shania's people and Dolly's people talked. The two were scheduled to meet
yesterday."
In the meantime, Shania
has been singing a little bit of one of Dolly Parton's songs "Coat of Many
Colours" during an TV interview in the UK: read the trasncript of that
UK interview on "Good Morning TV (ITV London) HERE!

Shania Says: RE-Recordings.
In
an article by Neil Haslop titled "OK, Let's Try Shania's CD Thing Again.
How many CDs are there, anyway?" posted at netmusiccountdown.com, Shania
was quoted by saying that the three versions of her new album UP! are actually
authentic
re-recordings of the songs, not simple remixes.
"Not one! Not two! But three! Yes, three different original recordings
of all 19 songs on Shania Twain's new album UP!. Whew!
Shania wants to set the
record straight, so to speak. There's been a misconception regarding the
double CD set for UP!. It was originally announced that there would be
a country version with a second CD of pop remixes.
Shania declares, "They
actually are not remixes. We have three authentic, re-recorded CDs with
live musicians."
Still with us? Shania has
color-coded them. Green is for country. Red is pop. Blue is Asian. (Asian?)
Whatever. They'll all be available everywhere on November 19th." (Thanks
Cbspock, from the STNAOFC Messageboard!)

Jealousy for Shania TV
Specials? According to an article posted at canoe.com, titled "Shania
TV special reveals jealousy," Shania Twain's TV Specials may have been
the cause of problems for the artist in the music business. ANIKA VAN WYK
of the Calgary Sun writes that "The Shania Twain bandwagon is filling up
with those who previously shunned her.
CMT, a long-time Twain
supporter, launches 12 Days of Shania today with Twain's Come On Over concert
special. However, it's Sunday's The Case For Shania on the network that
is the most interesting viewing. The special takes a look at Twain's rise
to superstardom as well as how all the nay sayers treated her. "She was
ripped up one side and down the other," says singer Jo Dee Messina." To

On the Man Behind the
Woman. The
allaccess.com
website has posted an interesting article on Shania's relationship with
her husband/producer Mutt Lange: "SHANIA TWAIN ON THE MAN BEHIND THE WOMAN.
In the 1950s, people talked about the woman behind the man. In 2002 with
the explosive success of female stars, the talk is about the men behind
the womenŠlike Reba's Narvel Blackstock, Faith's Tim, Martina's John McBride
and no man has been more essential to the woman than Shania's Mutt Lange.
"It's just such a special
relationship," Shania describes in her CMT INSIDE FAME: SHANIA TWAIN that
airs November 15th. "I don't even know really how to put it into words,
but everyday we both count our blessings and we've been put to the test
a few times. Because with two careers the way we have, we're apart a lot
of the time, off and on, and then when we're together, we're together completely
all the time together. And then of course having a baby, that's a whole
new thing into the mix." (Thanks Jud, from the STNAOFC
Messageboard!)
More on New CD Mixes.
The
music website cmt.com has
confirmed information on Shania's new album UP! which will include remixes
too: "Twain's Up! Will Feature Different Mixes. Shania Twain is addressing
the "pop vs. country" issue by releasing two mixes of her upcoming album,
Up! Consumers won't have to decide which version to buy, either, because
Mercury Records is packaging the project as a two-CD set -- with one disc
containing the country mix and the other featuring the pop version. Two
years after the release of 1997's Come On Over, Twain released an international
version of the album featuring alternate mixes and different sequencing.
Twain and Mercury are also considering a dance mix of Up! for possible
release next spring or summer. Set for Nov. 19 release the 19-song Up!
has a list price of $19.98, although it will be widely discounted at retail."
