Shania's UP! Becomes DVD! Get ready Super Shania Fans: Shania's latest CD "UP!" will be released in a DVD format on September 23! "Universal Music Group (UMG) will unveil its first titles in the DVD-Audio format Sept. 23, with a diverse helping of 24 albums. The label group will become the fourth major label group to utilize the format, after Warner Music Group, EMI and Bertelsmann Music Group....DVD-Audio is based on the same technology as DVD-Video, and is playable in any DVD-compatible CD player as well as in DVD-Video players. The format offers a higher-quality audio experience than a CD, due to compression, and also offers the potential for bonus content such as video clips and photo galleries. Shania Takes Over New York! Shania had a very busy schedule in New York on Aug. 1: she first participated to the NBC "Today Show" where she sang 3 songs as part of the Toyota Summer Series concerts. During the morning she sang "That Don't Impress Me Much", "Nah!" and "Forever and For Always." You can see videos of her performance online at the NBC website! Later in the morning Shania taped another short special with CBS: this one will air later this month, possibly on Aug. 20 during the CBS Early Morning show! Shania on Regis & Kelly LIVE! On July 31 Shania was on the TV show "LIVE with Regis and Kelly!" on ABC. She was briefly interviewed and talked about her CD "UP!" but she did not perform. Thank You Baby: NEW VIDEO! Since the end of this past week, "Thank You Baby!" has become Shania's new single in Europe. The video has premiered on the UK BOX channel, and the single is scheduled to be released in Germany on August 11. You can now watch the video online courtesy of Shania's label in Germany: go HERE! NEW Super Audio UP! CD! Shania's site at Mercury Nashville has announced that a new "UP!" Super Audio CD (SACD) will be released: "Shania is releasing her latest album UP! as a Super Audio CD (SACD) on Tuesday, August 12th. Super Audio Compact Discs (SACD) are a new audio disc format that look like regular CDs, but have much higher storage capacity, so they can hold super high-quality audio. SACD discs use a format called Direct Sound Digital that promises much better CD audio. To take advantage of the improved sound quality with SACDs, you will need a SACD player and a Surround Sound audio system to enjoy the multichannel audio. Shania ROCKS Chicago! Shania fans filled Grant Park in Chicago on July 27 to see Shania Twain perform her first US concert since 1999! More than 50,000 enthusiastic fans sang and danced to Shania's songs: they waited for hours in line before jumping with joy during the more than 2 hours long concert Shania gave. Shania's Radio Special Too! It's getting even better: one Shania TV Special and one Shania Radio Special coming UP! "Westwood One will be syndicating a one-hour radio special called "Shania in Chicago" on various radio stations the weekend of August 16 & 17th." It's not sure sure if this will include some new live tracks or not. Many times the syndicator will say the show will feature live tracks, but you only get studio stuff. The show will air on Froggy 100.9 in Vermont on Sunday, August 17th at 6:00 p.m. (Thanks to jumpinjim, from the STNAOFC Messageboard !)

Shania is a Pop Icon! During the new VH1 show "200 Greatest Pop Culture Icons " Shania Twain was named as the 98th greatest Pop Icon on their ranking. Shania Plays, Sings at CUBS Game! Shania Twain threw the first pitch during the July 24 baseball game in Chicago: she also sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the seventh inning stretch! Shania Plays Basket..and Helps Kids! In town for her concert on Sunday, Shania Twain visited a food bank program in Chicago on July 23. From yahoo.com: "Singer Shania Twain plays basketball while attending Kids Cafe, a national program of America's Second Harvest, one of the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief charities, Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in Chicago. Twain is a supporter of ASH, a charity that provides after school meals, tutoring and mentoring to low-income students. New CMT Show on Fans. CMT US is going to air a new show titled "Devoted" on Wednesday July 30 at 9 PM ET. The show presents had core fans of different artists, including some Shania fans! "CMT takes a look at the super fans who have each given a little piece of their hearts, their minds and their lives to honor the country music stars who have given them so much in return. Whether it's making Kenny Chesney the centerpiece of their weddings, visiting the fast food restaurant where Shania Twain once mopped floors or traveling all over the nation to show their support for the Dixie Chicks, these five fans prove why there is no one more "Devoted"." CCMA Nominations! Shania Twain leads the list of artists who got nominations for the Canadian Country Music Association Awards this year: 8! The Globe and Mail announced that: "Singer Shania Twain dominated the nominations for the Canadian Country Music Awards. The star from Timmins, Ont., is up for every major membership-voted category, including two nominations for the video of the year." The awards show will take place this year in Calgary on Sep. 8. BBC2 Radio Concert! On July 26 BBC2 Radio will air a Shania concert that was taped LIVE on July 10 at the Abbey Road Studios in London. VIVA-Comet 2003 Awards! The German TV channel VIVA-TV has an award show called Comet, coming up on August 15th, in Germany. UP!-Platinum! "UP!" certified *Platinum* in Austria! According to www.ifpi.at, Up! was certified *Platinum* on July 14th, 2003! Up! still has plenty of live in it on the charts, it is still top 30 after 33 weeks on the chart, so I think it may go *Double Platinum.* It already has sold more than Come On Over, which went Gold! Shania Plays Baseball! Shania fans don't forget that on July 24 on the Chicago TV station WGN at 2.30 PM Shania Twain will make an appearance during the baseball game. She is scheduled to sing "Take Me Our To The Ball Game" at the 7th inning stretch for this Chicago Cubs game, as well as to throw out the first pitch of the game. Shania at Billboard Awards Show! The Billboard Awards show performers list has already been announced by Mercury Nashville , and Shania is on it! Shania ROCKS Hyde Park Shania Twain gave an incredibly wonderful performance at Hyde Park in London on July 12! She sang 22 songs, including 3 encores ("You're Still The One," "Nah!," and "Rock This Country") over a two hour show. It was a very high energy  concert: Shania was perfect down to every single note and the crowd of 60,000 loved it! Singing her most famous songs from "The Woman in Me," "Come On Over," and "UP!" Supporting Acts for Hyde Park Concert. According to the British news organization Ananova , the supporting acts for Shania's concert at Hyde Park on July 12 have already been decided: "Mavericks to support Shania Twain in London. The Mavericks and Bjorn Again are to support Shania Twain in London's Hyde Park on July 12. The gig will be Shania's first live date in the UK for over four years and is her only date in the UK this year. 
She will be performing a selection of hits including I'm Gonna Getcha Good, That Don't Impress Me Much and You're Still The One. 
Shania is set to release her new single Forever And For Always on on June 2.

The article in the special magazine of the Telegraph is titled "UP and Away" : "Shania Twain is a phenomenon. Her album 'Come On Over' sold more copies than any other record by a female artist… ever.
